I spent Sunday afternoon at the Butler Motor Speedway open house/practice session. Seems to be a large field of Late Models there this year. Also a great turn out of Sprints. I have been to the open house in the past few years and there were usually only a handful of Sprints. I believe there were 12-15 there on Sunday. I spoke with Mark Dowdy and he is anxious to get the season underway. Mark has his sights set on the track championship with his new race team and his new car. Mark’s teammate is focusing on the rookie of the year title.

The wall on the front stretch is finally gone. This made for some great action. I can’t wait to see the IRA’s to take to the track this Saturday night. One note on this show Sunday was scheduled as a rain date. This raindate has been cancelled.

There will be live web updates from Butler this Saturday night for the IRA race. Steve Hardin and Paul Pittman will bring you all the action live on the net. For more information visit www.stevehardin.com.

I spoke to Chuck Wilson and his wife briefly about their plans for the racing season and they seem to be up in the air right now. They did say they would probably be at Butler for the IRA show this coming weekend. But as for the rest of the season they don’t know yet. They also have a new enclosed trailer. Chuck is the most successful driver that still had the open trailer. I’m sure this will be a great addition to the Wilson team as they pull to a lot of show that are far away.
